Spring Ready in Something Navy

(Plus: Where Gus and I are going for Spring Break!)

Spring Break Trip!!

I am so excited to be traveling somewhere next week for Spring Break! I have never gone on vacation for spring break, so I have been looking forward to this for a very long time and am soooo looking forward to escaping the bitter cold and to go somewhere tropical! Gus and I went to Tahiti, Morea, and Bora Bora for our honeymoon and that was my first taste of a tropical destination... and the ocean for that matter... and now we are going to Turks and Caicos! We will be staying at Beaches Resorts and enjoying the clear, blue water and soaking up the sun! I have so many outfits that I am excited to show you while I am there!

About the Look!

While I am anxiously waiting for this trip, I thought I should share one more outfit with you all of my transitional wear! (I'm sure there will be plenty more when I get back as well, unless it turns into spring while I'm gone!). In honor of International Women's Day today, I wore winter white. I was inspired by women in Congress last month wearing white to show solidarity with women around the country. White is associated with the suffrage movement, which gave women their right to vote! Winter whites are clean, daring in a way, and chic, defying the "no white after Labor Day rule". Check out this very special look below!

This dress is my recent purchase from Something Navy's February collection! I love that it has voluminous sleeves, buttoned sides for versatility, and a tie waist that flatters the figure! It is made of a nice, flowy material, but it does wrinkle easily and you need to wear nude colored underwear. Its button up sides let it be worn as both a dress and a tunic worn over pants. This dress comes in both black and off-white.

Inspired by Arielle Charnas' styling of her own pieces, I wore these off-white Louise et Cie pumps from Dillards that matched the color of the dress beautifully! They have an amazing detail with the pearl and gold bar across the front and interesting shape in the cut of the leather top. As these shoes are leather, they are a little more pricey, but I have found some great similar options linked above!

I recently stumbled on Aldo Shoes and have been so impressed with them! Aldo sells shoes, bags, and accessories for a great price with surprisingly good quality and great style! This bag is perfect for spring with its coloring and sparkly, tweed fabric. It is just so cute and a great transitional piece!

I wanted to pick fun accessories for this look. White is such a great canvas to work with! To start, I found this great polka-dot bandana from Madewell to put in my hair! I included polka dots in my spring trends post last week! I folded the bandana into a triangle and rolled it up until it was thin enough to wrap around my ponytail.

For my jewelry, I wore these fun heart stud earrings from Baublebar and a gold and black choker from Rocksbox! They go so well with the bandana and are so cute! See the heart earrings styled here.

To finish off my look, I wore a great coral shade from Kylie Cosmetics. This creme lipstick is so pigmented and the coral color looked so pretty with the look, especially the bag! Coral is the perfect color for spring!
