My name is Hannah Applequist!  I am a sustainability-focused fashion and lifestyle blogger and percussionist, born in Springfield, MO, but living in Kansas, who loves all things aesthetic!

I am lucky to have a "job" that I absolutely love.  I am a private percussion lessons instructor at my studio in downtown Salina, trying to pass down my love of music and percussion to a bunch of great kids.  I also am an active musician, performing with various groups in the area.

I decided to start my blog, The Emerald Slipper, in August of 2018 after dreaming of having my own for years.  It has been a wonderful journey of growth and learning.  In the fall of 2021, I made the decision to redirect the focus of my blog to sustainable fashion as an attempt to use my platform to help the planet.  I want to combat fast fashion by providing a spotlight for sustainable clothing brands and thrifting, while also sharing other ways to practice sustainability.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Gus, and we have two puppies, Lilly and Lucy.  They all keep me sane and grounded.  I feel the most powerful when in a dress and heels, or after a good workout.
