Love is in the Air

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Bestor Plaza at the Chautauqua Institution is right in the middle of things. It is a very well known location and when I think of Chautauqua, I think of this plaza, with its fountain and large lawn and big, historic buildings.

Gus and I tried to get out to take pictures before the rain hit but, as is normal with everyday life, things didn't quite go as planned. Our neighbors in Chautauqua were outside and, after chatting with them for a while, the rain started coming down. Luckily, I had planned ahead and brought my umbrella! ...I did forget my bag but will be showing it further down in this post...

I have had this tie front blouse in my closet for years and it continues to be a staple piece for me. I have an overabundance of white shirts, since they go with anything! When I have a flowy bottom, like a skirt or wide leg pants, I try to go for a more fitted/cropped silhouette in the top to balance things out, and this top is great for that! I love that it has a collar, pockets, and a button down front to give it a cute, preppy look. I have linked similar options above.

I purchased these pants, new at H&M, for this trip and they were perfect! Their linen fabric and great pattern fit so well with the location. They were also comfortable in the humid weather, as they were light and airy, and even though they wrinkle, the pattern kept it from showing. These pants sold out fast, but I have found similar pairs linked above.

These shoes from one of Something Navy's latest collections were probably my smartest purchase of the summer! Strappy sandals have been in for a while now, as well as slides, and I thought these were unique and modern but still approachable! They are also a decent price, despite being made of pretty high quality material! I can't tell you how many times I have worn these shoes since purchasing them about a month ago. They also come in red and black and I am seriously considering purchasing the other colors.

Since I forgot my purse from Amazon back at the house, we shot it, along with my Kate Spade umbrella purchased from Amazon, when we got back on the porch, my favorite spot. This bag has also been a staple piece for me and has been worn with so many looks. (See it styled here, here, and here). I discovered the magic of a clear umbrella a while back and haven't gone back since. I love that this one has a cute little saying on it! "Love is in the Air".

I finished off my look with a faux pearl barrette, also from Amazon, a pair of earrings from an H&M set, and a great pinky-nude Covergirl lipstick.
