This is my first post from Gus and my trip to the windy city! I am so excited to share all of these outfits with you. This was my first real experience of Chicago. I had been once before in December but only went outside twice and attended a convention the rest of my time. Even though our trip was short, I enjoyed getting to experience beautiful Chicago! The reason for the visit was to celebrate my father-in-law. He attended college in Chicago and was presented with a honored alumni award for his lifetime achievements. Gus and I, along with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, went to support him and enjoy the city. All of these pictures were taken from the beautiful campus before and after the awards banquet.
This gorgeous sweater from Piper and Scoot is my favorite sweater, by far, for this fall! I love the color, the balloon sleeves, and the super soft fabric! You kind of want to just bury your face in it all the time.. I wore this sweater with a french tuck, slightly tucked in at the front and out in the back. I feel like this is a more flattering look to bulkier sweaters and keeps you from looking boxy. This sweater can go with literally anything. Pair this sweater with a skirt like this one, OR wear some skinny or boyfriend jeans for a more casual look.
I paired this camel sweater with a jewel tone (super in style for fall always!) burgundy midi skirt from Bohme. I have this skirt in emerald green as well because I just couldn't choose! I am so glad I bought both, as this is one of the comfiest skirts that I own. The fabric is heavy and soft. The only downside is that it doesn't have pockets đ˘. These colors complimented each other so well. For a more casual look, wear this skirt with a graphic tee and tennies!
This coat was a lifesaver all weekend in Chicago. It felt quite a bit colder than I have been used to because of that lovely wind from the lake. I absolutely love this wool blend coat from H&M. It went with every single outfit that I brought for the trip (you will definitely see it in a couple more posts!) and it was only $40! I am sorry to say that it is sold out in everything but a size 6, so if that is your size, jump on it NOW! I did link some other options for you above.
The focal point of the whole outfit are these amazing Marc Fisher leopard booties from Nordstrom! I was a little late to the leopard trend that is all over Instagram right now. I just couldn't find the right pieces that didn't look tacky to me! These boots were love at first sight. They are classy, trendy, and comfy, everything that a girl needs. They were a splurge, so I did link some other options for you above! I also styled this look with an old crossbody bag that I purchased from Marshalls a couple of years ago. Click here to see another blog post in which I styled this bag! Find some similar picks that would look amazing with this outfit above.
I accessorized this outfit with pieces from Rocksbox that are, unfortunately, not on sale any more. I have linked some other options above. My pieces were a cute charm necklace, some simple and modern hexagon shaped earrings, and rings from a set from H&M.
