Auld Lang Syne

What a year 2018 has been! I turned 24 (my favorite number), traveled to several states in the U.S. and to New Zealand for an amazing trip of a lifetime, chopped my hair off, played a ton of great gigs with my band, with the Salina Symphony, and also the pit orchestra of the Salina Community Theater, taught my amazing lessons students, and started this blog, just to name a few things! I have learned so many things and have grown in many different ways. I hope that all of you have had a wonderful year as well and that 2018 brought you much joy and successes.

New Years has always been a special time of year for me, but even more so as of four years ago, when my husband proposed to me. We were in Grand Lake, Colorado at his family cabin for a New Years vacation with some friends and went to the town's midnight celebration. It was -20 degrees and snowing, but it was one of the best nights of my life as my now husband proposed under the display of fireworks and snow.

This dress from Lulus has to be one of the prettiest that I own. It is perfect for the New Year for any parties, events, or even date night! At under $100, it is a fairly affordable, yet looks very luxe and classy. The material is heavy and is so pretty, especially in the light. It literally looks like you are wearing gold... I love the shape of the dress as well. The midi length, pleated skirt, and halter neckline are all super flattering.

When I saw these Louise et Cie shoes from Lord and Taylor, I knew that they were perfect for this dress, especially for New Years! They are classic, but with a twist, just like the rest of the outfit! I love the criss-cross pattern that the straps create paired with the tassel on the back zippers. They are super unique without trying hard. Unfortunately, these exact shoes are mostly sold out (except for size 6), so I have linked some similar options for you above as well.

I also enjoyed styling the outfit with this just as cool and unique box bag from Zara! Clear bags are very in style, as are box bags, so pairing the two was genius! The bag has amazingly cute details that add interest, including the sparkles and the black pattern. I also like to mix metals, like the silver in the bag, with the gold of the dress, AND the rose gold of my indoor background! This bag is great quality and is perfect with this look.

The adorable leopard bracelet is super special to me, as it belonged to my mom from when she worked at Dillards before I was born and was given to me. I actually could not find anything like it that was affordable, so I have linked some similar options for you all above. My rings are from H&M and Rocksbox.

I finished the look off with some of my favorite earrings from H&M. These worked so well with the tassel Louise et Cie heels and balanced the look perfectly. It is always good to pair a halter neckline with some statement earrings, as a necklace would not compliment the shape. I found the exact earrings but in a different color, so I have linked some similar options in black above. I also wore a great raspberry shade from Kylie Cosmetics for a fun pop of color that is different from red.

Waving goodbye to 2018 like... jk, I was fixing my hair...

I hope you all have a safe and fun New Years. Here's to 2019 and to what it may bring! <3
