"And All That Jazz.." Gala Outfit

Updated: Nov 10, 2018

This past couple weeks are always so busy for everyone. We have been going non-stop and will be for a couple more weeks until the holidays start. I think that is why Thanksgiving to New Years is probably my favorite time of year. I love that it is more focused on peace, joy, and family. While I am definitely a fall person, there is something so magical about the holidays and the accompanying attire for parties and events. I am seeing more faux furs, satins, and sparkles and I am living for it. Gus and I got to take a night off last Friday and enjoy attending a gala fundraiser for our alma mater's music department. We drank, ate, conversed, and listened to some great jazz. This Gal Meets Glam dress was the perfect outfit for the occasion and my first holiday post! The pictures make it seem more red, but it is described as a raspberry color, more of a hot pink/purple mixture. It is so pretty for this time of year! Mock necks are a detail that I am seeing a lot of this season. That, paired with the sleeves and satin fabric, gave the dress a really unique and classy feel. The fabric can get a bit clingy, so I did not wear shapewear or tights underneath. I also rubbed the inside with a dryer sheet to avoid that problem and I was good to go! It moved beautifully.

I am absolutely smitten with these heels from Nordstrom. I purchased these specifically with this event, and dress, in mind, but I will definitely be wearing them all season! They paired so well with the dress and were exactly what I envisioned! They are on sale right now (40% off!) but most of the sizes are sold out. I did link some very similar options above and highly suggest checking out the Jewel Badgley Mischka collection here for many more holiday heel options!

Here are some of my favorites. Click the pictures to shop the shoe!

This little abstract lace clutch, also from Nordstrom, was the perfect pairing to the outfit. It doesn't show in pictures, but it is quite glittery. The great discovery with the bag was that my hands did not get covered in glitter at all! Not even after holding it all night long. It does come with a cute, removable, gold chain for a shoulder strap, but I was afraid it would snag the dress, so I did not use it. It was just the perfect size to hold my ID, phone, lipstick, and some cash.

I chose some dainty, gold jewelry for this look, as I felt the shoes and bag spoke enough for the outfit with all the glitter. I wore some gold ear climbers, a thin, gold charm bracelet, and a ring. All of these pieces were from Rocksbox! I found similar pieces for the bracelet and ring linked above. I also wore this beautiful shade of red lipstick from Kylie Cosmetics! It paired so well with the look.

This picture accurately shows the real color of the dress! So pretty, just hard to capture on camera, apparently! 😆
